Egg Magic?
Can you fit a large egg into a bottle opening that's too small for it to pass through?
It seems impossible for the egg to go into the bottle; it's too big!
What you need:
Hard boiled egg (peel first)
Glass bottle, Old milk bottle works great.
Match or a lighter and piece of paper.
1. Do some preliminary tests see if it will push or squeeze into the bottle (it shouldn't)
2. Set the egg aside, and light a strip of paper on fire.
3. Quickly and carefully drop the paper strip inside the glass bottle.
4. Immediately place the egg on top of the bottle.
5. WATCH! and be Amazed!
The science behind the magic:
Initially, the air pressure and temperature inside and outside the bottle are the same. The burning match or paper heats the air inside the bottle, causing it to expand. When you place the egg on top, it seals the opening and the flame goes out. As the air inside cools, it contracts, creating lower pressure inside the bottle than outside. This pressure difference pushes the egg down into the bottle.
