What you need:

A hard boiled egg (peel first)

A Glass bottle, Old milk bottle works Great.

A match or a lighter and piece of paper.

It seems impossible for the egg to go into the bottle in one piece, not chopped up in a million pieces???

The Science behind it:

Air has actual mass and can expand or shrink. Air can actually push or pull objects with pressure and air pressure is actually very powerful.

Starting the air pressure and temperature inside and outside of the bottle was the same. The burning match/paper strip caused the air inside of the bottle to heat up and expand quickly. Setting the egg on top caused the fire to go out and cooling the air inside back down and contract or shrink. Then there was less air pressure inside the bottle than outside causing the egg to suck down into the bottle.

Extra Challenge:  Try reversing the pressure to get the egg back out in one piece, email me and let me know how it goes.
